Designer Insights for a Smooth Workflow

Always review the SVG or AI file layers before digitizing. Sometimes the text is outlined, and other times it’s live type—knowing that affects how you prepare the stitch file.
Test the black-and-white version of the design on screen. If any areas look too heavy or completely disappear, you’ll need to adjust stroke thickness before you even touch the embroidery machine.
Check the small gap between letters. In my digitizing, I added a slight overlap where the script connected to prevent gaping on stretchy fabric.
Use a running stitch for any very fine accent lines that might break under high tension. Reserve satin stitch for the main lettering only.
If you’re selling the digital embroidery file you create, make sure your license allows derivative work. The original product is a graphics set, so you’re essentially creating a new embroidery asset from it.
